Ian Potter Museum of Art Education and Programs Centre

Value  $14M

The project expands the 1998 Fender Katsalidis-designed Ian Potter Museum of Art into the 1900s/1930s Physics Annex building, shaping it into a dedicated Education and Programs Centre for the gallery.

The scope includes significant demolition; structural and refurbishment works, including replacing the existing ground-floor slab to align with the Fender Katsalidis building; and relocating the main entry to create a new public foyer and cafe facility. New teaching and learning spaces, including academic programs and seminar rooms, are to be developed on Level 1. Additional facilities such as toilets, a patrons’ locker area, back-of-house storage, mechanical plant rooms, and “green room” facilities are to be provided at basement level.More generally the project upgrades include AV, lighting and security systems throughout, two new lifts, and replacement and electrification of the mechanical plant.
